I use a “co-creative” coaching approach, and follow a cognitive-behavioural model. This basically means that coach and coachee share responsibility for development and the coach is not a teacher, a promoter nor a technical expert. I look for thought patterns and personal preferences that influence behaviour rather than focussing only on helping to change behaviour. This allows for the possible cause to be addressed rather than simply the symptom.
My background in HR and my experience with assessment and competencies helps me to balance work performance needs with psychological characteristics. Spirituality may or may not be a factor in a coachee achieving his or her goals, but my strengths are my pragmatism, empathy and insightful questioning. If my coaching allows coachees to “self-actualise or “realise the power within”, that is an added bonus!
